1. Update your cabinet hardware, light fixtures, countertop and/or backsplash.  For example if you have a traditional kitchen and you want a trendier more youthful look, switch out your oil rubbed bronze finishes for brushed nickel.

2Give your cabinets and island the appearance of furniture by adding trim, molding, legs, paint,  and/or feet.  If you have plain cabinet doors that are unappealing, try adding trim to the top of your cabinets, simple molding to the doors and furniture legs to your cabinet/island.  Just remember that the current trend is simple lines instead of an ornate look.  And as always, painting your island cabinetry a different color to create look of furniture in your space.

3. Accessorize your kitchen by adding pops of color throughout.  Start by placing your favorite accent color on countertop corners while also ensuring you add color to your focal point whether its the oven/hood area or a beautiful island.
