1. Select a cool color such as blue, green or purple because it will visually recede away from you, giving a more calming effect.

2. Go with a toned down (lighter) version of your colors overall like watered down blues, light greens. lavenders or even all white.
3. Use analgous colors, meaning colors that are close together on the color wheel or variations of the same hue to keep the soul of the room relaxed and inviting.
