Last Friday, I had the privilege of stopping by the Kansas City Live Show hosted by Michael Mackie. Michael is a huge supporter of DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) of which I have been involved with for several years and just officially joined the board in July. I accepted a wreath that was made by interior designer Jaclyn Joslin, who runs the gorgeous local shop The Coveted Home, live on-air. The show ran long, so I had to talk fast! Overall, it was a very fun, albeit brief experience. It was amazing to be inside the same studio of my favorite local news station and see the anchors' desk.
Here are a few 'behind-the scenes' quick pictures-

Speaking of DIFFA, our annual Holidays By Design event last weekend was a success! This is a fun cocktail party kick-off to the holiday season where local designers create holiday decor pieces that are available for silent auction. I made an easy wreath from retro-looking ornaments in shades of rose, mint, celery and turquoise.
My Easy, DIY Ornament Wreath
1. Gather your supplies.
You will need about 50 ornaments of small to medium size, a hot glue gun, foam wreath form, ribbon to cover the form and any additional adornments (I used a mint-colored garland bead strand and mint-colored candy canes for mine).

2. Cover your wreath from with ribbon.
I used a metallic blue wide-ribbon that I already had on hand and secured it with hot glue. This will prevent any white from the wreath form from being seen.

3. Hot glue ornaments onto wreath form.
I randomly attached ornaments, making sure I varied the colors and designs of the ornaments. I then attached the mind-bead garland strand to cover any space between ornaments. The candy canes were added as a fun extra.

Viola!
It took just over an hour to complete this and I did it while catching up on an episode of Million Dollar Listing:)
Here are a few snapshots of other wreaths that were available for silent auction (sorry for the crappy i-phone pics):

The holiday spirit continues on Suburban Spunk this week, as I'll be sharing pictures of our three Christmas trees, mantle and table that we decorated over Thanksgiving weekend. It's my favorite decorating weekend of the year!
Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday!
xoxo, S
