Tavern in the Village and the Northwest Cherries Tree-to-Table Campaign.
Tavern in the Village and the Northwest Cherries Tree-to-Table Campaign.
A few months ago, the Wilson Public Relations firm out of Seattle Washington contacted me. They were looking for restaurant suggestion in Missouri and Kansas for the Northwest Cherries Tree-to-Table Campaign.
The Campaign chooses one restaurant from each state to send some Rainier cherries to and then have the chef at that restaurant create a special dish using the cherries.
I sent them a list of a few of my favorite places in town and Tavern in the Village happened to be one of them.
Executive Chef Lon Froneberger has created a seared duck breast entrée topped with a pink peppercorn Rainier cherry cabernet sauce to highlight the Rainier cherries. The dish will debut on National Rainier Cherry day along with the restaurant’s first wine tasting event on Monday, July 11 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. This dish will be served with orzo and grilled asparagus and will be available on the menu throughout the month for the price of $19.00.
A list of Chateau Ste. Michelle wines has carefully been selected that highlight the crisp cherry flavors from Washington to launch the restaurant’s first wine tasting event. A selection of Chateau Ste. Michelle wines will be available throughout the evening with three wine tastings available for $10.00 for guests.
For a list of other restaurants across the US participating in the Tree-to-Table Campaign or for more information visit: www.nwcherries.com.
I am so thrilled to have been a part of this and cannot wait to try the dish.
Tavern in the Village is located at 3901 Prairie Lane, Prairie Village, KS, 66208.
In Good Taste,
Sharm
