Celebrities from Kansas City: Paul Rudd

Rudd's uncanny talent to make audiences laugh isn’t only one reason why we adore this Shawnee Mission West graduate. Soon after attending University of Kansas, Rudd landed his breakout role in “Clueless,” smooched with Jennifer Aniston in “The Object of My Affection” and gained big screen momentum with “Anchorman” and “Role Models.” Unlike many Hollywood stars, Rudd hasn’t lost his love for his hometown. He drops in on the Kansas City Royals games and has starred in the Kansas City Chiefs’ witty promotional videos with fellow actor Rob Riggle. He’s the epitome of a funnyman coupled with the perfect dose of Midwestern charm.

Kansas City may be a long way from Hollywood but has been able to provide Hollywood with some outstanding leading men over the years. 'Hawaii Five-0' and 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' star Ed Asner is a KC native, so is Oscar winner Chris Cooper, 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Baywatch' star Tuc Watkins, comedy actor Paul Rudd and superstar Brad Pitt. Interior designer Hal Swanson, sculptor Tom Corbin and celebrity photographer Greg Gorman are all from KC and all have their fair share of Hollywood clients. Golfer Tom Watson, KC Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers and racing driver and political activist Scott Tucker all have local and global fans far beyond the Hollywood hills.
