STORY BY Kate Brosseau

shopping Intro 3 FebWe wear red when we want to stand out and let the world know that we are ready to make a statement. Add your voice (and a few fabulous accessories) to the charitable events coming to KC this month.

Every woman needs a pair of red high heels, and whether she’s wearing them with skinny jeans or a stunning ball gown, the extra pop of color will make heads turn with envy. Slip on a pair of Enzo Angiolini Mistle pumps ($89.95, right) from Nordstrom (11143 W. 95th St., Overland Park). We fell in love when we saw the chic leather bow on the back.
Not every woman is so bold as to don a vibrant red coat amidst a sea of black and gray, but you will be rolling in compliments when you dare to be different with a dyed red mink stroller with chinchilla ($15,000, left) from Alaskan Fur Co. (9029 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park). Warm and toasty? Check. Fashionably fabulous? Double check.
On most days, the overloaded Mary Poppins purse is essential for any woman on the go. However, a special occasion calls for a compact clutch, because who really needs a day planner, the baby wipes and the mess of grocery receipts at a gala? For a sleek and chic piece, feast your eyes on the Clara Kasavina red silk clutch with a champagne crystal embellished frame ($975, center) from Churchill (5240 Belinder Road, Fairway; 336 W. 47th St.).
