First Watch (4117 W. 83rd St.) is a Kansas City favorite for breakfast and lunch, but you’ve got to be an early bird—they close at 2:30 p.m.

BRGR Kitchen + Bar (4038 W. 83rd St.) offers great hamburgers, sandwiches and salads, all made to order.

Urban Table (8232 Mission Road) has a nice variety of small plates, including fabulous spicy fried peanuts and hard-to-find poutine.

Hattie’s Fine Coffee (4195 Somerset Drive) will make you the perfect cup of coffee, cappuccino or hot chocolate.

The Great Harvest Bread Company (4002 W. 83rd St.) bakes fresh bread daily for its sandwiches. You can also take home the loaf of the day or one of its holiday offerings.
