Since the sudden departure of Carine Roitfeld from Vogue Paris, the title has become something of a magnet for criticism. Some has been topical, the title's direction towards the too simple has oft been pondered, while other criticism has certainly seemed more serious: take thetwo accusations of copying and stagnation for instance. Be it backwards or forwards, with Europe's high-summer break over it's time for Vogue Paris to take another step along the path to change; both its own and fashion's. After all, fall 2011's fashions are on the horizon and the magazine itself needs to claw back its lustre.

So it is that the title turns to Lara Stone for its August 2011 cover, the supermodel photographed looking off into the distance. And it's a pose that is somewhat allegorical given that we as readers will be looking to the title to not just help show us the through the coming fashion season, but also to see precisely what Vogue Paris' future holds.
