Posted in Fashion » Fashion Blog » Clothing » Fashion Designer Collections There's resort wear, and then there's the types of frocks Grace Kelly swished around the French Riviera in while romancing John "The Cat" Robie in To Catch A Thief. Marchesa's resort 2012 offering falls, or rather drapes gracefully, into the latter category. That mixture of refinement and restraint with femininity and poise, as it manifested in the 50s and 60s, has found its way into a number of 2012's resort collections - Valentino amoung them. The trending hues are transported straight from the era: soft pastels and citrus colours, coral and peppermint and white. Where Marchesa differs is in deep teal silks and the odd pop of fuschia, the latter in whimsical peplums, the former in draping cascade bodices of a vintage elegance no words can describe. While Marchesa reached absolute high notes in their romance with floor-length chiffon, they didn't leave the cocktail hour unaccounted for. A metallic mini and some knee-length versions of their sweeping gowns are statements that are youthful, but without forsaking their Princessly grace.
